Sister Missing #2 (reading log)

“Sister Missing”, by Sophie Mackenzie is a heart-stopping, chair gripping, addictive book. Lauren has spent many years trying to find her real birth mother figuring out ways to stay in both families. Later on, she finds out that her father Sam has passed. This makes it a very difficult time for Lauren. Laurens mother takes her and her sister for a relaxing holiday down to the beach, when Maddison suddenly disappears from the beach, exactly how she was years back. Lauren then takes the blame as she was meant to be looking after Maddison. Lauren sets out with her best friend Jam to find her. All the evidence found suggests that the same kidnapper took Lauren when she was in her younger year sin her life.

The most nerve-racking part in the film for me, was when Maddison gets snatched from the beach. This made me nervous and went to keep reading as the same kidnapper took Lauren from her biological family. It made me think what if Maddison never came back or got seriously hurt. The author, Sophie Mackenzie, I believe, added this part into the book to make us want to read more. Not only that but to build suspense and a sense of nervousness.

When I was reading the novel, I was also shocked when Laurens kidnapper tries to take Lauren again. Yes, she was doing it to earn money, but that gives no excuse to do such a thing as what she did. She was harming two other families that should have never been involved.

The negative impact it had on Lauren, was she may never see any of her family again. She would hope not to have been killed, but that’s what Sonia Holtwood threatened to do.

However, through all this I believe that there was a positive impact of the story. Although what amount of stress and danger lauren and her family were put through, it brought them all closer together as one and helped them to realise how much they meant to eachother. This horrible experience everyone was put through, brought a special connection between the two families involved and lauren. It made her realise that having two families isn’t as bad as she made out to be.

The book sister missing by Sophie Mackenzie, really opened my eyes to reality as some children are experincing such things. It helped me to understand that life isnt always good for kids and some are struggling. I would definitly recommend this book as it will open peoples eyes as to what relaity can be like for some children in this world.
