Lion #5 (wide reading log)

The film lion is a truly inspiring film about a young Indian boy who at the age of five, gets separated from his mother and later adopted by an Australian couple returns home, determined to find his family 25 years later. His determination and revolutionary technology known as google earth get him back to finding his family.

I believe that the film director Garth Davis, try’s to incorporate into the film the theme of perseverance and determination. The amount of perseverance that Saroo put into finding his family back in India, was so huge. It inspires me so much that although when he felt like giving up, he was determined to get to where he wanted to be despite the amount of time given up to find his mother and siblings.

The part of the film that impacted me the most was when Saroo finally found his birth mother and siblings. All of the hard work and effort that he had put into finding his family back in India was huge and to see him finally meet his family again after 25 years, was so inspiring and motivating to see that someone who works hard, gets to be where they want to be. Despite all of the time s his friends had said: ” I think you should give it a rest” or ” you need to stop”, Saroo kept on going and persevering no matter how tough the times got for him.

Sadly, this is apart of today’s society where kids are separated from their families and adopted into other ones. They grow up without knowing how their culture lives, and who they really are as a person. This story is very inspiring, and motivating.

This film teaches us, that children growing up without their birth families can have a huge impact on the way that they act and what personality traits they present their surroundings with. For example, growing up, Saroo knew that he had been adopted into another family. At times, it was very hard for Saroo to think about him being with his real family and what times would have been like if he was to be with them. This made Saroo feel angry inside and he started to drink. He got to a point in his life where he started to doubt himself and where he was in life. However, he knew he had to do something about the situation he was in. He started to get back into his researching and finding his family back in India.

I would recommend this film as it is so motivating for people who want to get to where they want to be in life that they can if they put their mind to it and don’t give up even during the hard times that they may encounter or face along the journey.
